Building Community Activities

The Building Community Activities are events that are focused on fellowship with a more involved commitment by the participant. The intent of these activities is to strengthen positive godly relationships and to provide for enjoyable pastime activity. Many of these events can evolve into a Small Groups format. These activities can be relatively easy to execute. They have one possible pitfall in that they can easily turn into an activity that does not differ from one organized outside of the church. For this reason, these events should have a strong proportion of those individuals who are either mature in their faith or seriously seeking spiritual growth. As an example, the Bunco night for the women can easily be like any other Bunco night in the community. Therefore, to make it a Chruch Life Activity it would be beneficial to have several godly women who could set the tone for the evening in terms of appropriate language, conversation and even possible counsel.

Building Community Activities are best introduced after the church has been formed and is coming together in worship. Selection of activities should be based on the character and needs of the developing church community and the volunteer enthusiasm of the mature believers in the church. These activities work best with a strong force of mature or growing Christians to give the godly leadership needed and who will supplement the Core Group and the Organizing Pastor. As with High Impact Activities, these Building Community Activities should continue as a integral part of the church life community.
