Beyond being spiritual and worship centers, the church is a social, educational, and recreational center.  Increasingly, in this litigious society we live in, the church is exposed to a wide range of circumstances, occurrences, and, hence, risks and liabilities.  Risk and potential liability exposure areas include, but are not limited to:

• conditions of the premises where the church meets
• activities the church sponsors
• the church's role as an employer
• vicarious liability (e.e., a child drowns at church-sponsored outing)
• liability for actions of volunteer workers
• professional liability of pastors and staff
• "Renter/Tenant" liability where the new church leases its facilities

Legal defense costs can be substantial.  Simple cases can cost $15,000 to defend.  More complex cases could cost $100,000 - or more.
