Mercy Ministries: Resources

"We all hungered to be a church that incarnated the gospel so well and so effectively that our city would literally feel compelled to give glory to the God they saw working through us."  Robert Lewis, pastor of Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock, Arkansas

What resources are available to you?

  • The Barnabas Ministry Team.  This team can serve as a link to your Sponsoring Church as well as to the broader community.  Barnabas team members should be able to help you network into the community, make research available to you, and introduce you to community leaders.  Use this help to move more directly to decisions regarding the nature and shape of outreach ministries, as well as the soundness of potential outreach partners.
  • Your Sponsoring Church.  Your Sponsoring Church may already have ministries active in your area.  They may already be partnering with other churches or service organizations.  These connections should produce both information and relationships that will benefit you.  Caution:  be careful about the possibility of partnering with your Sponsoring Church.  Doing so may be totally constructive but it carries the danger of dependency that may not benefit you in the long run.  Consider such partnerships on a temporary basis for at least the first few years but re-evaluate as you grow.
  • Your Launch Team and members.  Members of your Launch Team may have connections in the community that will help you assess need and evaluate potential partners.  Likewise your members and visitors may also have such relationships.  Leverage these relationships into knowledge and energy to quickly gain momentum that will visibly impact your community.
  • Para-church organizations and service agencies.  These may be potential partners in ministry or they may simply help you shorten your development time by providing information, volunteers, even money.
