New Members Environmental Factors

The physical environment for the New Member program can be flexible according to the numbers involved and the availability of location. The New Member program can easily take place in someone's home. Babysitting should be considered if there are a large number of children.

More importantly is the "spiritual environment". The church of today is refocusing on the values of the early church. The church is being looked at as being both inclusive and exclusive.

Inclusive means that all are to be welcomed into hearing and experiencing the grace of God. There is no discrimination based on age, race, prosperity, employment, religious backgrounds or lack of background, etc. This welcoming spirit needs to be openly expressed by the Pastor, the leadership, and every member of the church. All are welcomed to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. See to it that no one misses the grace of God. Hebrews 12:15a

Exclusive means that we believe in Jesus Christ as the sole path to God, the Father, and our only hope for eternal life. Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 This single truth needs to be firmly established and expressed by the Pastor and the leadership. There may be those who want to combat this statement at the expense that they turn away from joining the church. The church's role is to be the representative of Christ and in that truth we must not waver.

It is this environment of including all for the exclusive message of Jesus Christ that our New Member Program needs to create.
